Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop faces new false advertising claims

Gwyneth Paltrow’s health, wellness and lifestyle website Goop is under the microscope yet again.

This time, the Oscar-winning actress’ site is being criticized by an advertising watchdog for making what it says are false claims about almost 50 products.

The claims were lodged by Truth in Advertising with two California district attorneys connected to the state’s Food, Drug and Medical Task Force.
TINA charges Goop with “unsubstantiated, and therefore deceptive, health and disease-treatment claims to market many of its products”.

Some of the products in question include a Carnalian crystal claiming to treat infertility, a jade vaginal egg promoted as a way to combat uterine prolapse, Goop’s signature perfume which it claims improves memory and can “work as antibiotics.”
Last month, Goop published a letter defending its health practices.
Paltrow herself sometimes seems confused by what Goop is promoting.
