Harvey Weinstein To Surrender To Police Today
Harvey Weinstein will turn himself in on Friday around the same time that the Manhattan District Attorney’s office formally files charges against the mogul.
Weinstien will be charged with first- and third-degree rape as well as first-degree sex act in cases involving two women. Some of the charges relate to an allegation brought by actress Lucia Evans. She detailed her accusations against Weinstein in an article in the New Yorker in October last year.
Rose McGowan, Asia Argento and several other women who claim to have suffered at the hands of the once-powerful producer took to social media on Thursday to share their reactions to the news that Weinstein may finally get what’s been coming to him.
The allegations triggered the #MeToo movement which sought to demonstrate and draw attention to the widespread prevalence of sexual abuse and harassment.
Actresses Kate Beckinsale, Ashely Judd and Gwyneth Paltrow are among the high-profile figures to have spoken out.
